Proposals on the Cochrane River

For couples seeking something intimate, quiet, and deeply connected to Patagonia, this experience was designed to feel simple, meaningful, and unforgettable.

In collaboration with Paseos Náuticos, your experience begins with a private boat journey through the turquoise waters of the Cochrane River, entering the breathtaking Tamango sector of Patagonia National Park.

‍ As we navigate through one of the most untouched corners of Patagonia, you’ll have the chance to spot native birdlife and, if luck is on our side, even the elusive huemul deer, one of Chile’s most endangered and iconic animals.

Three people lying on a boat, wearing bright orange life jackets, relaxing and looking at a lake with mountains in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

After approximately 45 minutes on the river, we arrive at a small dock hidden within the landscape. From there, a short and easy 15-minute hike leads us to a scenic overlook above the river, where Patagonia opens around you in every direction.

That is where the proposal happens.

No decorations.
No crowds.
No staged setup.

Just the two of you, surrounded by raw Patagonia.

After the proposal, we return to the boat where a picnic awaits, sparkling cider, local snacks, and time to simply soak it all in together before heading back.

Frequently Asked Questions

Meet Captain Fran:

Choosing to partner with Fran was an easy decision, not only because of her deep connection to Patagonia but because she represents something rare in this region: a woman leading in a field traditionally dominated by men, as she is currently the only female captain in the area.

Bilingual and incredibly knowledgeable about the landscapes surrounding Patagonia National Park, Fran’s story is deeply intertwined with the history of the park itself. She originally arrived in Patagonia to work alongside Douglas Tompkins, whose conservation vision helped shape and protect this extraordinary region.

Her knowledge of the river, wildlife, and history of the area adds a depth to the experience that goes far beyond simply taking a boat ride; it becomes a way of experiencing Patagonia through the eyes of someone who truly knows and loves it.

This experience is made possible in partnership with Fran, owner and captain of Paseos Náuticos Cochrane.
